Toddler's Sample Schedule

Toddlers are easily distractible curious creatures. They want to explore a new environment, not sleep in it. Not to mention, we all sleep better in our own beds. Keep the room as dark as possible when sleeping somewhere other than home. Bedtime is my FAVORITE time of the day (and not just because it means the kids are in bed!). It’s the most meaningful quality time I get with my kids.

Whether you wake at 6 or 8 AM doesn’t really matter a lot—the same concepts to a toddler schedule apply. She becomes wilder the closer to bedtime she gets, but we are still able to get her to sleep without trouble. I want to be consistent with my toddler’s schedule. I don’t always remember to be patient with her when things don’t go according to plan (which happens a lot!).

Year Old Meal Plan

This may mean they eat fewer and less foods than they used to. Second, there is a normal developmental phase known as neophobia where kids are more fearful of new and less familiar foods. Toddlers generally eat around every 2-3 hours, but that may vary depending on their own unique hunger. I believe you can run a low-stress home without feeling out of control and overwhelmed. You don’t have to be exhausted and running around like a chicken with its head cut off every day. On a hot day, there’s nothing better than having a water table for your one year old to play with.

The are leak-proof and baby can tip almost any angle and the weighted straw lets them keep drinking. This is super rough right now because like I said, we’re in the middle of the 2-to-1 nap transition. My husband built him a sensory table for his first birthday, and D has been obsessed with it. I put lots of different things in it so he’s always interested, but his favorite is definitely water. I also try my best to incorporate activities in our day that interest him.

I scout local events so we are going to a craft and snack event this morning that free at 10am. We did a tree lighting with fireworks and lots of outdoor attractions like balloon art and free cocoa etc an afternoon a couple of weeks ago. So I’d recommend you keep and eye out and add to your calendar and go to fun local stuff. Story time we do 1-2x a week, they have special events too like dance party or meeting characters so def check your local library. Plan a play date at their house or your house or meet at the park.

You may need more or less time for your nighttime routine, so feel free to start earlier if you need to. Try taking a walk around your neighborhood, reading books or doing puzzles, or listening to soothing music. Researchers share that keeping the lights dim in the hours before bedtime may help with your child’s natural circadian rhythm, making them sleepy. After turning 1 year, a child may be having a few bottles, but we want to transition over to sippy cups of milk served with meals by months. If the child doesn’t seem hungry for solids, that could be a good reason to start tapering down separate milk feedings.

Simple One Year Old Feeding & Nap Schedule

Everything takes SO much longer when we are talking about toddlers , so don’t feel frustrated if things take a lot longer than you think they should. Next, don’t forget to write how LONG things take you. This will take a few tries, because of the planning fallacy, which shows us that things usually take much longer than we assume they do. Set yourself a timer when you start breakfast, and get an idea on how long it actually takes – not how long you THINK it takes.

The one-year-old will be up between now and eleven. When she’s up we change diapers and prepare to transition to lunch time. Often we engage in pretend play, which is super beneficial at this age. We do our morning snack once we have cleaned up from our activity. I keep a snack drawer within reach of both of my kids that contain healthy snack options for them.

Where to eat the snack, what happens immediately before and after it. What to eat, where to eat it, what to do immediately after breakfast. A large part of being a stay at home mom is creating and maintaining home systems. This means the cleaning, organizing, cooking, tidying, and overall maintenance of the home.

If you don’t have one, various buckets or bowls of water will do just fine. I also used to keep one ride-on car in the house for rainy days, and one outside . When your baby was learning to walk, they may have heavily relied on push toys. Now that they’ve got that toddler wobble down, push toys are a favorite manipulative.

Anywhere from 13 to 18 months your toddler will drop their morning nap and just have an afternoon nap. Baby may take a few months to fully drop the morning nap. If you try to drop the morning nap and baby is exhausted by early evening, then keep a short morning nap as part of the routine until he’s fully ready. I don’t know about you, but I always struggle with sleeping when I’m excited for the next day or haven’t had time to wind down.

Spending long days with your toddler is a blessing — or so you’ve been told. Full days can feel never-ending, leaving you exhausted and, well, defeated. It is very normal for one year olds to grow less rapidly than they did as babies, and to have a correspondingly lower appetite. It is very common for parents to see kids eating less and fewer foods and assume it’s “pickiness” when in fact the child is simply not as hungry as we expect them to be. As a mom of 5, I understand what it’s like for lots of small problems to take over, leaving you overwhelmed. Every month, I help hundreds of thousands of moms, just like you, find breakthroughs with my simple solutions that address parenting and home struggles.
